Privacy Policy

Last updated 14 October 2026

Idea Court is run by [the legal name of whoever runs Idea Court] (“we”). This policy explains what we collect when you use the site, why, and who else sees it. We do not sell your information, show ads, or use tracking or analytics cookies.

What you type into the court

When you start a live trial, the idea and background you type are sent to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI models that play the prosecutor, defender, jurors and judge. The arguments and verdict are streamed back to your browser. We do not save your idea or the trial on our servers once it has been sent to you. Anthropic handles it under its commercial terms and privacy policy, and may keep it for a limited time for safety and abuse monitoring.

Do not type passwords, health details, or anything about other people that they would not want shared.

Your account and credits

You need an account to buy credits. You can make one with your email address and a password, or by signing in with Google. For your account we keep your email address, a scrambled (hashed) form of your password that cannot be turned back into the password, and, if you use Google, the ID number Google gives your Google account. Google tells us your email address and whether it is verified, and nothing else. We also keep your credit balance, whether you have a monthly membership, and the ID Stripe gives your customer record. To protect accounts we briefly record failed sign-in attempts against an email address. If you ask to reset your password, we email you a link through our email provider, Resend; the link's code expires after 30 minutes and we keep only a scrambled form of it.

Payments

Payments are handled by Stripe. You give your card details and email address to Stripe, not to us. We never see or store your full card number. We can see what Stripe shows sellers: your email, the last four digits of your card, and your payment history. Stripe’s use of your information is covered by its privacy policy.

Technical information

Like every website, our hosting provider receives your IP address and basic request details when you visit, and may keep them in short-lived server logs. We may use your IP address to limit how often a visitor can start free trials. We do not use it to identify you.

Cookies

We set one cookie, court_account, when you sign in. It keeps you signed in on that browser until you sign out (or for up to 180 days), and we store only a scrambled form of it. While you sign in with Google we also set a short-lived cookie, court_oauth, for up to 10 minutes, to check the reply really came from your sign-in. Both are needed for the site to work, so there is no option to turn them off. Stripe and Google set their own cookies on their pages.

How long we keep it

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the information we hold about you by emailing ideacourt-support@googlegroups.com. Deleting your account removes any unused credits. We will answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example California, the UK or the EU), you may have further rights under local law, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Children

Idea Court is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has used the site, email ideacourt-support@googlegroups.com and we will delete what we have.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will say so on the site before it takes effect.
